Blogging is supposed to make our ideas flow on screen most easily rather than writing them down on paper. It is an outlet for one's ideas, one's angst of living on earth, one's dreams of a world that allows everyone to tap their talents and skills and express them freely. Well, it is a good innovation in the computer technology and I really welcome it because it makes me think, and also makes me exercise my writing skills.
I used to write prolifically, is there such a word, way back in 2006 when I had a column in a business newspaper. But it was cut off rather mercilessly by the editor and since then I have not really forgiven that. It has been a lowdown ever since but anyway, I am now trying to get interested in topics to write about. But it is rather strange that my topics have been mostly on things spiritual. First, I wrote a short story about the death of my mother and how she still continues to exercise certain power over my life, by suggesting how I should "fall in love." Then I have just finished two articles, one on predictions about the New Year, and the last on those love potions used to make the beloved stick like glue to the other. No it was not really that funny, but rather informative. I submitted these to Manila Standard's Gianna LifestyleWeekend editor.
What is writing really?
Right now, I am writing because the downloading of the pictures from the camera is taking so slow. I am getting frustrated because this is not how my laptop worked before. I used to see all the pictures in one go right away. Somebody has put a virus in this computer while I was out of the house. Slowing down the functions of the computer makes my work really very heavy and takes up so much of my time.
I wonder when the techno specialists will be able to develop a computer that is virus-free, that could easily protect all our passwords. Maybe this will not be farfetched as they are doing computer work everyday. So I hope that things will really change fast soon. Or am I being starry-eyed?
